Herbalist Hireling Guild Amenity Bumps Burnyai for T9 Collectibles

Written by Kwill on . Posted in Game Updates & Maintenance

If you’ve been keeping your Burynai house pet (from the Kunark Pre-Order) on a steady diet of fertilizers and letting the shinies roll in, you’ve probably noticed that they have had no luck producing any of the collections from Odus (Sundered Frontier, Stonebrunt Mountains), Velious (Great Divide, Eastern Wastes), or associated dungeons. It turns out, a new Guild Hall amenity has been added for these Tier 9 zones. Here’s Gninja to explain the new Herbalist Hirelings which accept fertilizer items in exchange for collectable rewards:

.. Right now you should be able to feed the “Herbalist Hireling” any combination of the three items and get a collectible from it. The [older] Burynai will only accept items up to tier8. Combinations using the Tier9 [materials] will not work with the Burynai.

Just to go into a little bit of reasoning behind why we did it this way. Updating the Burynai every expansion took a good bit of time to update him. So instead of just continuing to update this feature only a select portion of the player base could acquire we decided to make it a permanent feature in the guildhalls and this way it would be easier to update and everyone could use it. This way it only gets updated in one place and its harder to miss one or the other when it comes time to update the functionality. We plan to keep the Herbalist Amenity up to date going forward.

You can still use the Burnyai, but it will not be updated for future tiers, according to Gninja:

The Herbalist Amenity works for all tiers from tier1 to tier9 and will be updated if/when the tier raises. The Burynai will not update past tier 8. At least that is what has been decided for now.

Adventurers in Velious will find some new Tier 9 fertilizers: large frostbitten bonestundra compost, and glacial water.

I am still confused why the 2 (Guild, house) cannot use the same code to figure out what items to eat…

I usually just keep my Burynai around (expanded to maximum model size) to roam around my house and scare guests. I usually sell any fertilizers / waters / bones on broker. I’d much rather have the gold.

only a select… that’s a lie. Everyone was able to feed them, the hardest part was to find open house or guild hall with one (not that hard…)

If we follow this logic EQ2 Extended player should all get rewarded with veterant call

Why would you expect something from Kunark to accept tier 9 things?
