“Anti-Slacker” Thresholds Raised

Written by Kwill on . Posted in Grouping, Live Events, Raiding

The March 8th Game Update Notes contain an interesting item:

  • The anti-slacker threshold has been raised on all PQ’s [Public Quests].
  • The Developers are serious about this! Windslasher said:

Freeloading was not part of the public quest design and will not be allowed. I’m approaching the problem slowly and carefully, to avoid denying loot to players who deserve it, but measures are being taken to tighten up the participation requirements.

The next hotfix [March 8]  will make a slight change to address the problem, and depending on the response, I may take progressively stronger measures.

We reported earlier this week that some players were already complaining about missing out on chest drops due to healing and buffing, or even lag problems, as opposed to doing straight damage during an encounter.  Surprisingly, it seems that a significant number of players are actually getting unfairly rewarded, since Windslasher found it necessary to raise the threshhold on the participation calculations.

It will be interesting to see what this change will do to support classes, as well as traditional damage dealers. It is still unclear what the parameters are for “participation scoring,” so it’s anyone’s guess what the new threshholds will be.

Not sure how I feel about this.

I play an Inquisitor, and during these PQ’s (which I think I’m in the neighborhood of over 100 run so far? I know it’s an asinine amount), I have yet to score either the fabled weapon or chest piece….

On Permafrost, the lag is so wretched, I don’t think it’s even possible to get the epic Lords on the last step. It’s not a raid, it’s a slideshow. Hit the button, 12-15 seconds later it fires (second wave storm gorge, specifically).

Storm Gorge specifically on permafrost… the lag is so bad, I don’t think it’s possible to get the epics on the server there. I MIGHT have seen it once, but not even sure of that.

All for people having to participate to get rewards, but I wish they would pony up a few more details on what you have to do to get the best rewards, other than be lucky.

      On the inquisitor:
      I heal
      I dps
      I debuff
      I cure
I even rez when it gets bad.
I use verdict to finish off the epic mobs.
I use inquisition to heal people not in the raid.
I freaking solo healed a raid in storm gorge with zero deaths (second raid force present, but we were tanking about half of the time).

      And no fableds.

Random chance = fail. Make it after 25 runs and after 50. Or 50/100. I don’t care.

I’ve watched a guildmate get the weapon TWICE. Twice. They had to mute the first one. I’ve watched another guildmate get their weapon on their fourth run. A different friend get their chest piece on their fifth, weapon on seventh or so I think it was.

      They play high dps classes.

And here I am. Healing. Curing. Debuffing. DPSing. Verdict’ing. Inquisition’ing.

      Something is not right.

And now they in esence just made it harder to get those pieces?

      Really?

PQs were fun, now the only people who get rewarded are the people who don’t need the reward anyway. SOP rom $OE.

jesus this car crash of an xpac gets ever more pathetic as the days creek by the sheer lack of playable (by normal standards) content is shockingly low now they knobble this parto of it too.

Fix the lag first eh SOE? and get it playable for the most part as they are at the moment just unplayable for many people.

its not dps only in any case, i still have to see any fabled or adornment drop on my assassin who more often then not tops the parse or is in top3. So i just guess its random luck … had a guildy get his fabled on the first PQ he joined …

They dont make harder to get piece, it’s just for try avoid cheat, some player with multiple account, for exemple come leak the reward, YOU do the job and they get the reward.

It’s nothing changed for people actively participating
