Runnyeye to Splitpaw Merge February 3, Splitpaw Downtime February 2

Written by Feldon on . Posted in Game Updates & Maintenance

The Runnyeye to Splitpaw European server merge has been announced. This server merge was initially delayed because of the necessity of a database upgrade to support the merged server. All told, Splitpaw will be down for virtually all of February 2 and 3. For some folks, February will only have 26 days this month. Details after the jump.

From the EQ2 Forums:

The Runnyeye and Splitpaw servers will begin merging on Thursday, February 3, 2011. Both servers will be offline for an estimated 24 hours. Start and end times will be announced soon.  The merged Splitpaw server is scheduled to come back online as soon as the merge has completed.

The following services will be affected for all EQII servers located in our Amsterdam data center (Splitpaw, Storms, Valor, RU servers) during this downtime and may experience interruptions:

  • Cross-server chat
  • In-game mail
  • Friends Lists

We apologize for any inconvenience and will resume all affected services when the merge is complete.

When the merge begins, we’ll update this post with a link to a server merge chat thread.

From the EQ2 Forums:

This is a notification that Splitpaw will be updated at 12:00 AM London Time on 02/02/2011. The estimated downtime will be 17 18 hours.

– SOE Operations team

Valor and Storms will also be affected by this downtime.

There is already an ingame message on Valor, that says that the server will be down 17 hours on February 3rd too (starting from 1 am CET).

Kind of nervous here to see if we get long term overcrowding, the one thing I am looking forward to though is seeing if the lower ping has any difference to the feel of the game.

At least the beta will be up, there I have only just headed out into new areas the weekend and things really are clicking for me, it says something good for the group aspect of the game when I’m missing friends and guildies when out questing.

This is one expansion I am really looking forward to playing for real.
