Freeblood Race in February (or Sooner)
Players have been wondering exactly how vampires are going to be sewn into the EQ2 storyline as a playable race. And some have wondered if any other medical conditions such as lycanthropy will make an appearance.
A new article has appeared on EverQuest2.com with Lore explaining the presence of the Freeblood vampire race and their place in Norrath. This article also includes teaser screen shots of the new Freeblood race.
No word if these screen shots are from Shaders 3, Shaders 1, or the EQ1 engine.
What may be the most important part of the announcement is the fine print:
The Freeblood vampire race will be available through the Velious Winter Rewards promotion for qualifying EQII subscribers and EQ2X Gold and Platinum members as part of the February reward. (See link for details.) For those who don’t want to wait that long, the race will be available on the Marketplace in late December.

We all kinda figured they’d end up on market place….so now you pay 40-60 bucks for the expansion plus however much they are charging for the new race of the expansion.
Coming soon to a game near you: Pay 60.00 for the expansion, and then $10.00 for each raid zone that comes with it + each new race.
So in the end why are they charging for expansions? Because they can.
Also…just a personal thing but if your going to take screen shots of a new race to preview, at least make sure the existing armor fits properly on the models…instead of going through their legs and looking bad.

It was a given that the race would be available on marketplace, since otherwise anyone starting the game with the launch of velious (or after) would have no way to play it. But I AM a bit surprised/disappointed that it is going into the marketplace in Dec — I’d rather see it hit the market with the launch of Velious so that those paying cash for it aren’t getting it sooner than those who subscribe/buy the expansion.

The way i see it, if this is going to live servers and not just the X servers, it should be implemented the normal way here. Live players should not have to buy races.
