Gallery: EQNext Screen Shots and Concept Art Day 2
We posted some very fuzzy screen shots from the EQNext panel yesterday. Today, the panel was repeated to get more feedback and show off a few new images. The panel was moderated by SOE President John Smedley talking about and getting player input into early development third game in the EverQuest stable.
UPDATE: The images in this article have been superseded. Check out the new article

Lots of concept art, but nothing from the actual play. guessing they not even in alpha yet.
They really want input from the players before going off half-cocked.
The in game shots look amazing, especially freeport. I wonder what that concept art is of though. It kinda looks like Timorous Deep or the Oasis where the boat stops by. Damn I want to play EQ again.
You are saying "in-game screen shots."
I so hope to get into the testing part of EQNext....hopefully it will be without many of the issues we see here atm
If those are truly in game ss...it's quite pretty! If concept art, well
hopefully it will look as good!
Well isn't this just great!
I'm all set to leave EQ in about 2 months when my last account expires, then they drop EQ2X on me, of course I'll be playing that, now I'm becoming very interested in EQ3.
I'm screwed, i'm never going to be able to escape Everquest.
Question is ! "what's the targeted audience for EQ2 Next ?"
From the lore point of view, is this designed for EQ1 nostalgic ?
From a gaming point of view, it it targeting casual, solo, groups, raid, hard core ?

'I can tell you there were 2 in-game screen shots shown each day, and this will be both a PC and PS3 game built on a new engine that scales depending on the power of your computer.'

I like the concept, and am ready for something new. Looking forward to playing (and maybe testing) Thanks Devs!
I remember buying the EQ2 advanced reservation of the game years before EQ2 was released. with 'EQ Next', I'm taking a more cautious approach. meaning EQ2 was a disappointment to me and I won't buy the game till its released and I feel like its gonna be worth playing.
EQ2 to me is a bunch of zones loosely tied together, there is very little fear of danger in the game, and the class groups, are to similar and generic. Though the models in the game are beautiful and the game does play well.
Vanguard SOH was more like what I Was looking for, but also was a disappointment due to the MASSIVE amount of problems it had at launch.
However, I loved the vanguard world (size of it), I also loved all the interesting races you can play, and GREAT classes, the real feeling of fear and danger, and lets not forget the great dungeons and places to fight in. very good stuff.
So, what I'm drilling at, is I Hope EQ Next will take something from vanguard, something from EQ1 and 2, something from DAOC, something from WOW(how can this not be mentioned), and then synergize into something amazing, fresh and new.
