EQ2 Battlegrounds Site Launched

If you have not yet had a chance to work out the puzzle we posted an hour ago (with corresponding pieces being posted on EQ2 Zam, EQ2 Traders, etc.), then don’t click this link:

EQ2Battlegrounds.com has been launched with new information and screen shots of the new Battlegrounds cross-server PvP system being added to EverQuest II.

  • Battlefield of Ganak — a zone reminiscent of Kunzar Jungle
    • Capture the Flag
    • Group vs. Group (6 on 6)
  • Smuggler’s Den
    • Hold Territory
    • Group vs. Group (6 on 6)
  • Gears of Klak’anon — takes place in a technological labyrinth in the midst of a scrapyard
    • Hold the Relic
    • Raid vs. Raid (24 on 24)

Again, these are cross-server zones, which means you will be able to group up with and battle players on other servers in North America, Europe, across both PvE and PvP servers.

Tokens will be rewarded which can be used to purchase special Battlegrounds PvP gear. This gear, and the rewards are NOT being designed as a progression path, and you will NOT need this gear to solo, group, or raid in the Sentinel’s Fate expansion. However it is conceivable that some raid guilds will expect players to have certain gear.

If you are familiar with existing PvP in EQ2 or want some more details, you might check out the PvP Changes thread. In that thread, we also learn that we may get a third set of armor slots besides Main and Appearance — PvP armor.

“and you will NOT need this gear to solo, group, or raid in the Sentinel’s Fate expansion” — sounds completely like “but it will help”
